Lava Lodge, Your Private Iceland Retreat
Our private Lava Lodge accommodates families and small groups of up to 12 guests across five rooms. Located on the edge of Iceland’s interior, it’s an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area and enjoying activities such as glacier snowmobiling, ice tunnel visits, geothermal bathing, exploring Iceland’s largest lava tube cave, horseback riding, fishing, farm visits and local brewery tastings. The area also offers scenic hiking trails and natural attractions, including lava waterfalls. From the lodge, we can arrange day trips to iconic destinations such as the Golden Circle and Snæfellsnes Peninsula, or venture deep into the Icelandic Highlands aboard a custom-modified super truck.
With little light pollution, the lodge is perfect for stargazing and, when conditions allow, viewing the northern lights. The patio offers views of three glaciers: Eiríksjökull, Langjökull and Ok. Inspired by traditional Icelandic farmhouses, the lodge combines warm interiors with outdoor spaces for relaxing, including a hot tub and a fire pit.
At the heart of the lodge is a communal dining area where we serve home-cooked Icelandic dinners made with fresh, local ingredients. Guests are welcome to join in the cooking, and dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice. After dinner, unwind in the living room with a glass of wine, browse our collection of more than 600 vinyl records, or pick up a guitar for an evening of music and singing.
